The shrine was built in 1939, and consecrated on August 15. During the occupation, Germans had given the order to destroy all the shrines. In an attempt to save the statue of Our Lady, people of Kłanino hid it. The figure of St. Mary the Virgin is treated with special veneration by the Kłanino inhabitants, because all the men of the village returned alive after II WW, even though they fought on very distant fronts (i.a. in Africa).
